WEEKDAY AW17 EXPLORES AN “OPTIMISTIC DYSTOPIA”
The Weekday AW17 collection explores an optimistic dystopia: inspired by the 1973 animated film Fantastic Planet as well as the landscape photography of Nadav Kander, this is a collection that freely blends materials and elements to create a neo-futuristic look.
Colourful jacquard knits and dark tie-dye patterns merge with minimalistic pieces to give the collection a mood that is chaotic yet playful. In the words of Creative Director and Head of Design Louise Lasson, the designs explore a “clean and bright future as well as a dark and somber outlook, continuing the brand’s work with contrast and contradiction.”
Taking us from the end of summer to the depths of winter, the collection offers everything from lightweight separates to dense outerwear. Oversized faux shearlings, puffer jackets and structured knits feel easy and convenient during colder months, while deconstructed skin-baring pieces move with the body to add some playful energy.
Key are the leather pieces, denim sets, and the sporty jacquard kits as well as unisex accessories with utility details such as hooks and ropes. As the days get darker, vivid pastels and unexpected elements create a unique feeling of optimism.
