REDEFINING NUDE IN BEAUTY WITH TERESA HORSTMANN AND ASTRID PEREZ
For decades the word “Nude” within the beauty industry was synonymous with lighter skin shades. However, as awareness about diversity within the industry grows, a shift can finally be seen in the traditional definition and representation of this word. Beauty companies and designers alike are increasingly embracing the ‘new’ Nude, by offering a wider spectrum of colours to suit all skin tones. Circa Beauty, founded by actress Eva Mendez, who began the venture because she was finding it difficult to buy makeup that matched her skin tone, is a good example of this. In her Nude editorial with Astrid Perez, Teresa Horstmann likewise celebrates the new Nude, using pale pinks and sheer materials to compliment Perez’ beauty.
