GET TO KNOW LUCIE AND LUKE MEIER, NEW CREATIVE DIRECTORS OF JIL SANDER
Following the news of one of Emilio Pucci’s creative director, Massimo Giorgetti, leaving the iconic fashion house, today brings a much happier news: the new creative directors of Jil Sander are Luke and Lucie Meier.
The couple was confirmed this morning to be taking the helm of the company, following the departure of previous creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga, who used to work for the likes of Prada and Vionnet.
These last years have been quite tumultuous for founder Jil Sander, as she left and came back to her eponymous fashion house a few times, being replaced by Raf Simons in the meantime, before departing for good in 2013.
This appointment is without a doubt a breath of fresh air for the German luxury house founded in 1968, now based in Milan, and known for its minimalist approach to design. The label is in good hands, as Lucie Meier previously worked for Louis Vuittton, Marc Jacobs and Dior, and husband Luke Meier was a creative director for Supreme and even launched his own menswear label, OAMC, in 2015. We can’t wait to see the first and highly anticipated collection the new creative directors of Jil Sander will show in September at Milan Fashion Week!
This is however not the first couple working together as fashion designers, and couple-run labels such as Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, Clements Ribeiro and Hutson New York undoubtedly show us that unity makes strength.
