A HUGE thank you to Desigual – and to the Currywurst Museum, House of Small Wonder, Kugelbahn and Mogg & Melzer for having us.
Material Girl teamed up with Spanish fashion label, Desigual and Berlin-based fashion blogger, Vanellimelli for their A Typical Place collaboration. We wanted to explore Berlin, find its most authentic and unusual locals, then photograph them along with Desigual’s latest collection.
Travelling is what inspires Desigual the most and Mel’s free-spirited vagabond lifestyle was a perfect fit.
We started our trip at Mogg & Melzer in Mitte, a former Jewish girls school turned traditional pastrami sandwich deli. Mel wore a white lace dress with a contrasting printed hem. Later, she wore white skinny jeans with ripped details across the leg and a colourful printed jumper.
We visited the Currywurst Muesum to learn about the city’s most famous fast food dishes. Gigantic ketchup sculptures and sausage-shaped couches greeted us as we entered, along with way too many facts and currywurst. Wurst-themed displays filled the rest of the space. Mel wore a denim tote bag with detailed trimmings, denim cut-off shorts and a colourful, black-and-white top which was inspired by the architecture of Barcelona.
Full of all the wurst we could eat, we decided to burn it off at the Kugelbahn – an eccentric bowling alley, in deepest Wedding. Mel wore a black body-hugging dress with a simple red, white, and black print on the front.
We ended the day at the House Of Small Wonder, a popular but cozy brunch spot in Mitte which reminded Mel of New York. She wore a black biker jacket with a colourful flower printed dress and geometric wedges – Art Nouveau from head to toe.
