LINDSEY WIXSON ANNOUNCES HER RETIREMENT
Over the last 8 years, Lindsey Wixson’s instantly recognizable face has become an industry staple, famous for her tooth-gap and impressive pout. But now, after countless covers, campaigns, and high-profile shows, the 23-year-old has announced her retirement after suffering an ankle injury.
In an Instagram post two days ago, and after a post last month alluding to a problem with her ankle, Wixson has announced that she is retiring from the “high heel business.” Alongside this, she explained her desire to follow her other interests, linking to an Instagram profile that describes her as a “Potter, interior curator, fixture designer.”
To all my fashion fans, I am sad to inform you that my injury has put me in a position to retire from this high heel business. I have an artistic side that wants to shine through. I feel that this disablility has come to me with a purpose. To show me that I must carry on. This industry has brought me so much and I am grateful for the lessons I have learned. Now more than ever I feel it is important to listen to my body and the changing times of this industry and peacefully try to move on. I ask for your support on my new endeavours with designing interiors, pottery, sculpting, carving, and inventing for the future. Please follow @wixsondesign
We look forward to seeing what Lindsey does from hereon out, but we imagine her next endeavours will be a little quieter than the whirlwind fashion industry, which scooped her out of obscurity aged 15 when she was hand-selected by Stephen Meisel for Italian Vogue.
