A JOURNEY FROM MESOPOTAMIA TO THE LATEST IN FASHION

This story, titled “Sirius”, from Istanbul echoes freedom and fantasy. Serene and dreamy in the landscape, the clothes have a minimal elegance – classic themes have a renaissance via the current obsession with deconstruction, reforming traditional elements to make something fresh and different. The pieces were created by designer Kubra Akgunlu, and pull off being bold but folky at the same time. Inspired by the Gobeklitepe, which was discovered in ancient times in Mesopotamia, the antique temple is supposed to be built for Sirius and for the stars.

Beaded woven pieces and soft cottons are re-interpreted with super-sleeves and oversized blazers. Wooden block heels are on-trend as the silhouette of a classically cut dress flows in the breeze. This story bathes in a soft kind of feminine power.
