FASHION FROM THE 3D-PRINTER: NOA RAVIV
There’s so much in this world that impresses us – primarily because we have no idea how it works. Like why the hell do cats always land on their paws, while our sandwiches always hit the floor peanut-butter-side down? It’s a little different with Noa Raviv’s 3D-printed fashion. We have no idea how she does it, still we’re far more impressed by the outcome, that gives us a very, very fashionable sneak peek into the future to when you can finally wear your Windows Media Player animations. We have seen Dita von Teese wearing a 3D-printed dress in 2013 that made our jaws drop, but Israeli designer Noa Raviv’s pieces seem more elaborated with the very delicate, more organic design and fabrics, that appear surprisingly natural on the human body. Looks like a bright future for fashion and 3D-printing that might not be as far ahead as you’d think! Berlin based Vojd Studio manufactures jewellery from the printer, the New York 3D Printshow (taking place in April) will include a fashion show with designers like Melinda Looi and super lovely label Holy Faya. Printed fashion is here to stay!
Here are some stunning pieces from Raviv’s collection “Hard Copy”:
