WHAT HAPPENS WHEN “THE BIRTH OF VENUS” MEETS CENTRAL MOSCOW

Shot just steps away from her home in central Moscow, Russian photographer Elena Sokolova’s editorial seeks to explore what happens when you place the mundane—Moscow’s industrial city center—and the beautiful—statuesque model Dzerassa—in conversation. “Dzerassa has a very unique appearance as if she has come to live from ‘The Birth of Venus'”, Sokolava says of her shoot’s star. “And the way she behaves, speaks and moves in reality is very noble, decent and modest. So I started thinking: what does it feel like for such a girl to survive in a modern world, in a constantly changing city like Moscow?”
