MIXING ASIA AND ART DECO, GO BACKSTAGE AT UMA WANG SS18
With a career already running for over 20 years, Chinese-born designer Uma Wang has successfully established herself as one of the most distinct voices of a new generation of creatives hailing from Asia with a modern take on traditional design. After studying at the Textile University in Shanghai and later completing an M.A. at Central Saint Martins Wang set up her eponymous label in 1996, and since continuously looked to channel her heritage into her forward thinking designs. This season, Wang mixed her Chinese roots with an Art Deco approach, reminiscent of her signature interest in juxtaposing patterns and fabrics alike. With such a long-lasting and ever evolving world right at our fingertips, we couldn’t but jump right into Wang’s world backstage at her Uma Wang SS18 show during Paris Fashion Week.
